EMV 2008

Dates - Tuesday 19th February - Thursday 21st February, 2008

Venue - Duesseldorf, Germany

Welcome to EMV 2008

EMV 2008 is Europe's leading exhibition for Electromagnetic Compatibility - the ideal platform for the dialogue between users in all fields of the electronic industry, the suppliers of EMC solutions and services and scientific experts of the EMC branch.

In the even years the EMV with conference takes place in Duesseldorf and in the uneven years the EMV with workshops is held in Stuttgart.

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) is one of the most important criteria for the use of electrical and electronical appliances, systems and components. With the conjunction of exhibition and convention, the EMC-show offers engineers, technicians and the technical management the opportunity to gain first hand information about trends and new technologies in the sector of EMC.

Product Design Seminar

Dates - Wednesday 20th February 2008

Venue - Envirowise provides support and advice to help UK businesses introduce cleaner design to their product and packaging ranges. We have found that the most effective and interesting approach to sharing design ideas is through interactive, practical workshop sessions. For this reason, Envirowise is hosting a small product design seminar on 20th February 2008 at the Hilton Brighton Metropole, to provide legislative updates and identify opportunities for design changes. - - - The day will include a series of presentations in the morning with an update on both existing and future legislation, cleaner design principles for both product and packaging and WEEE products from a recyclers view. In the afternoon, a practical product design session will take place to examine delegates’ own products and to identify redesign opportunities. There will also be an XRF machine available for free testing of products for RoHS compliance.

Electromagnetics for Engineers

clear space

This book covers the basic electromagnetic principles and laws from the standpoint of engineering applications, focusing on time-varying fields. Numerous applications of the principles and law are given for engineering applications that are primarily drawn from digital system design and electromagnetic interference (Electromagnetic Compatibility or EMC). Clock speeds of digital systems are increasingly in the GHz range as are frequencies used in modern analog communication systems. This increasing frequency content demands that more electrical engineers understand these fundamental electromagnetic principles and laws in order to design high speed and high frequency systems that will successfully operate.
Author Information
Clayton R. Paul, PhD, is Professor and the Sam Nunn Eminent Professor of Aerospace Systems Engineering in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. He is also Emeritus Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Paul is the author of numerous textbooks on EE subjects and technical papers, the majority of which are in his primary research area of EMC of electronic systems. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and an Honorary Life Member of the IEEE EMC Society.

Introduction to EMC, 2nd Edition

A Landmark text thoroughly updated, including a new CD

As digital devices continue to be produced at increasingly lower costs and with higher speeds, the need for effective electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) design practices has become more critical than ever to avoid unnecessary costs in bringing products into compliance with governmental regulations. The Second Edition of this landmark text has been thoroughly updated and revised to reflect these major developments that affect both academia and the electronics industry.

Several appendices are new to this edition including Phasor Analysis of Electric Circuits, The Electromagnetic Field Equations and Waves, Computer Codes for Calculating the Per-Unit-Length Parameters and Crosstalk of Multiconductor Transmission Lines, and a SPICE (PSPICE) tutorial.

Now thoroughly updated, the Second Edition of Introduction to Electromagnetic Compatibility remains the textbook of choice for university/college EMC courses as well as a reference for EMC design engineers.

Accelerated Stress Testing Handbook:

clear space

As we move closer to a genuinely global economy, the pressure to develop highly reliable products on ever-tighter schedules will increase. Part of a designer's "toolbox" for achieving product reliability in a compressed time frame should be a set of best practices for utilizing accelerated stress testing (AST).
The Accelerated Stress Testing Handbook delineates a core set of AST practices as part of an overall methodology for enhancing hardware product reliability. The techniques presented will teach readers to identify design deficiencies and problems with component quality or manufacturing processes early in the product's life, and then to take corrective action as quickly as possible. A wide array of case studies gleaned from leading practitioners of AST supplement the theory and methodology, which will provide the reader with a more concrete idea of how AST truly enhances quality in a reduced time frame.
